Seppo Aarnos

Reared in Finland, International Sculptor Seppo Aarnos, B.A., M.A., brings his European influence to life with a lighted torch and forged steel. His individual style is diametrically distinct to any existing art movement. Some works even leave the feeling of existential isolationism.

Bio

Seppo Aarnos was born and reared in Finland, part of a large, artistic family.

He has as Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture from Lake Forest College, Illinois, a Master of Arts from Roosevelt University, Chicago, and continuing studies from University of Illinois, Northern Illinois University, and University of Texas.

He and his family currently reside in Texas.

Work

Seppo Aarnos specializes in metal sculpture utilizing cor-ten and stainless steel. He also sculpts and paints in various media, but always returns to metal as his first passion.

Seppo’s sculpture originals are found in homes, businesses and public locations throughout 24 of the United States. His pieces have also found a home at indoor and outdoor locations, and public and private collections as diverse as Finland, Sweden, Canada, Australia and Mexico. He has had an active studio since 1962.

His artistic style while influenced by such modern greats as Alberto Giacommeti and Henry Moore is diametrically distinct to any existing movement. Cold sheets of steel are transformed into imaginative, often humorous, pieces which employ fluid use of mass and space.  Seppo’s impulsive, yet controlled, forms convey realism, abstract modernism or surrealistic art in new and imaginative ways. The viewer is allowed to see, to imagine, to experience and to be mentally involved with the creations.

He has exhibited in numerous fine art galleries across Texas and Illinois, where he has participated in select group and solo shows.
