Ever seen Fort Worth in HD? Well, now you can see some gloriously detailed photographs courtesy of local photographer James Brandon. He shoots in High Dynamic Range (HDR), so you can experience a photographic image like never before. These images do for photography what HD has done for television.

James Brandon is a Destination Travel and Wedding Photographer based out of Fort Worth Texas. His travel and landscape work uses an emerging form of photography called HDR, or High Dynamic Range. This process uses several images of the same scene taken at different exposures to gather the full spectrum of light available in a scene. Most of the time, a camera cannot capture the full range of light in a scene. The subject may be exposed properly (such as the foreground), but the sky will be blown out. Or the sky may be properly exposed, but the tree in the foreground is rendered as a silhouette. HDR takes exposures of every part of the scene, and then combines the best light of each exposure on a pixel by pixel basis. The final product is a beautiful work of art that has been said to resemble Impressionism.

The final product is a beautiful work of art that has been said to resemble Impressionism. Our minds remember scenes in a romantic and vibrant way. James uses HDR capture that emotion in a way that leaves viewers in awe, often trying to figure out if an image is painted, or an actual photograph.

James Brandon currently resides in Keller Texas with his wife Kristin, who is also a photographer and is often by his side wherever his work takes him. Apart from his travel and landscape work, James Brandon is an accomplished lifestyle photographer and is available for weddings, engagements, family and senior sessions when he is not traveling.

Clark Whittington will be joining art251 for Gallery Walk on May 13, 7-9pm. Clark is National Bureau Chief for Artists in Cellophane, artist and brains behind the cult Art-o-mat, art vending machine.art251 is one of only 6 locations in the whole of Texas to have an art-o-mat. The others are in Amarillo, Austin, Houston and San Antonio, with a new one slated for Dallas in May 2010. So, Keller ranks pretty well on the geo-artistic-cultural map!

You see, almost two years ago art251, right here in Keller, installed the very first Art-o-mat in North Texas. Now, the Big D is imitating it smaller, cuter neighbor to the west and playing catch-up by unveiling a rival Art-o-mat in North Dallas. On Saturday, May 15, only the second Art-o-mat machine in North Texas premiers at the new Whole Foods Market on Park Lane.

Art-o-mat machines are retired cigarette vending machines that have been converted to vend art. There are 90 or so active machines in various locations throughout the country. There are around 400 contributing artists from 10 different countries currently involved in the Art-o-mat project, which has been going since 1997.

Clark is always on the lookout for fresh work, so if you’re an artist, this is a great way to get your talents noticed. Art-o-mat artists range from new to well-established, and the art covers a broad range of original work including wearable glass pendants, flipbooks, barcode art, earrings made from computer parts, miniature bronze sculptures, oils on blocks, fabric art, photographs mounted on wood, bottle-cap paintings, and mobiles.
