Wildlife in the urban jungle
Dallas based artist, Brian Davis draws from nature in his urban backyard around White Rock Lake. He evokes the anxieties and beauty of wild animals caught in cultivated environments. His recent subjects have included coyotes, hawks, cardinals, dragonflies, hummingbirds and owls. He builds his canvas with mixed media, layering strips of paper to create his animal depictions and painting on the subtle tones with his hands, no brushes.
